My beloved ones, just like you’ve always listened to everything I’ve taught you in the past, I’m asking you now to keep following my instructions as though I were right there with you. Now you must continue to make this new life fully manifested as you live in the holy awe of God—which brings you trembling into his presence.
Philippians 2:12 TPT
Do you listen to what you’ve been taught? If no, that’s why you’re walking in darkness. Jesus said that they are dull of hearing—they hearing, hear not and seeing, see not (Luke 8:10). Why? Because they are not of Him.
Your being made lies in the continuity of keeping the instructions of God. You don’t just get excited of the Word and stop. To be excited about the Word is not wrong, but never forget what you have learnt.
When the right words are said to you, Satan’s greatest work is to steal it from you. Why? It is the word that you confess _(homologia)_ that brings you _sōtēria_ (salvation, deliverance, prosperity) (Romans 10:10). So, if he steals it from you, he has taken everything from you.
That’s why Proverbs 4:20-22 says, “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” The Word of God is invaluable. Some people will not forget gists, or academic works, but are quick to forget the Word. Never joke with the Word.
If you’re not appearing as a shining light in the universe, you’re not listening to everything you’re taught. Selective listening brings darkness to your light (See, Philippians 2:12-15 TPT).
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
Matthew 16:3-4 KJV
The word, adulterous, doesn’t connote people who commit adultery (as in the sexual sin). When you find the word as used in this context, it means what people refer today to as Church prostitution – moving from one favourable place to another.
*_Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.” He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth._*
*Matthew 12:38-40 NIV*
When you see something appear twice, you should give it attention.
Jesus could have given them a sign. But God’s people are not those who look out for signs, but look out for His Word. God rejected the people from being His priests not because they rejected His signs, but His Word. The sign of Jonah was enough for them.
Jonah rebelled against the instruction of God that must come to pass and he landed in the belly of a fish. Man rebelled against the instructions of God and Jesus became sin for man so He could dwell in the belly of the earth for three days and night.
After three days, Jonah came out from the belly of the fish and went straightway to where he was instructed to herald the Word of the Lord. Jesus resurrected and asked us to go straight to the instruction that we disobeyed in the first place. Hence He said, “Go preach the gospel to every creature and reconcile men back to me” (See, Mark 16:15; 2 Corinthians 5:18).
Luke 4:4 says, “That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word _(rhema)_ of God.” _Rhema_ means a command or an instruction. Our every action has to be directed by a command of the Spirit of God.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21 KJV
How will your living be Christ? When you take every instruction that comes from God and live according to the will of God and walk in His wisdom. In so doing, your reigning cannot be stopped. God’s people are destroyed because they refuse to take instructions.
Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
Proverbs 4:13 KJV
This means instructions can slip off your radar. How do you not let her go? If God speaks once, hear twice. Write it down and keep saying it. Never let instructions go.
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
Proverbs 4:18-19 KJV
The just man is the one who takes God’s instruction. Be at attention to the Word of God. It is your duty to not let them depart from your eyes, not God’s. Keep them.
The Word of God is medicine to your life. It can heal you.
To me, though I am the very least of all the saints (God’s consecrated people), this grace (favor, privilege) was granted and graciously entrusted: to proclaim to the Gentiles the unending (boundless, fathomless, incalculable, and exhaustless) riches of Christ [wealth which no human being could have searched out], Also to enlighten all men and make plain to them what is the plan [regarding the Gentiles and providing for the salvation of all men] of the mystery kept hidden through the ages and concealed until now in [the mind of] God Who created all things by Christ Jesus. [The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.
Ephesians 3:8-10 AMPC
There is wealth in Christ that no human can search out.
I don’t lack the solution to a problem because in Christ is the many-sided wisdom. I have wisdom in all things. I can handle anything. Christ is my wisdom. I take instructions.
Every instruction we take from Christ is a wisdom from God. God’s Words are coded wisdom. They are secrets of change, progress and prosperity. When we listen to Him, we can’t lose our way in life.
Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise.
1 Corinthians 3:18 NIV
So why fool yourself and live under an illusion? Make no mistake about it, if anyone thinks he is wise by the world’s standards, he will be made wiser by being a fool for God!
1 Corinthians 3:18 TPT
Let no person deceive himself. If anyone among you supposes that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool [let him discard his worldly discernment and recognize himself as dull, stupid, and foolish, without true learning and scholarship], that he may become [really] wise. For this world’s wisdom is foolishness (absurdity and stupidity) with God, for it is written, He lays hold of the wise in their [own] craftiness;
1 Corinthians 3:18-19 AMPC
For what the world says is wisdom is actually foolishness in God’s eyes. As it is written: The cleverness of the know-it-alls becomes the trap that ensnares them. And again: The Lord sees right through the clever reasonings of the wise and knows that it’s all a sham.
1 Corinthians 3:19-20 TPT
and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.” So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours,
1 Corinthians 3:20-21 NIV
Say these with me:
I’m wise. I know what to do at every instant. I’m not confused. I can’t be depressed. I’m full of God. I’m walking in Christ. I’m full of wisdom. I yield to instructions. I’m not a know-it-all, but I give room for the Holy Spirit. I only know it all in Christ. I make progress in life. I’m advancing the course of the kingdom. I cannot be poor. I’m excelling. I’m changing by the will of God. I’m a success. My future is guaranteed in Christ. I cannot do only what the Holy Ghost cannot do. I cannot become only what the Word does not declare that I can become.
