When God created man, He put in him an ability to think and analyse situations for himself—He gave him a will. With the will, man could make choices (good or bad, wise or foolish, life or death, etc.,) and bear the consequences of such choices.
His creative ability stems from an innate power called the mind. How the mind processes tells the choice he’d make and the result he’d achieve. Ultimately, a man’s mindset determines his ‘life-set’.
Mindset can be a blessing or a limitation for you. In other words, it could bless your life or cause you not to progress as you should.
Unfortunately, by default, third world countries (like majority of African nations) builds a negative mindset for her citizens while the western world builds a positive mindset for her inhabitants. The way the mindset is built defines the destiny of the individual.
God has created everyone great, but our mindset is our greatest limitation that inhibits the manifestation of that greatness.
Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” You cannot be better than how you process. So, it’s very important that you don’t deprive you of glory.
When people are around you, your mind interprets what they do or say in the manner it has been fashioned to process. This goes a long way to affect how you relate with people and life in general. That’s why you can find someone angry or oppose a great idea or a harmless statement, thinking it was wrong.
As a matter of fact, one of the leading causes of conflict in the world today is perception. We must be careful how and what we hear; but most importantly, how we process the information we receive. So, it’s not a problem of the information, but the processing of information.
Being raised by and/or with the wrong people pose so much danger because they can only train according to how they know best. A wrong training forms a wrong mindset which in turn forms the individual wrongly. There’s nothing right about a wrong mindset.
When you come to a great place that exudes so much excellence, people with the wrong mindsets tend to operate like this;
1. They may suspect good as bad.
2. They may suspect great principles.
3. They may act against what you’re doing, thinking that you don’t mean well for them.
4. Even when you mean well for them, they suspect that you don’t, because their minds play in a certain way.
5. When you act in a way that they’ve seen before, they draw conclusion on your actions and intentions based on what they’ve seen before even if it’s a great principle you’re applying.
People know how to generalise from past experiences. It’s good! But if your deductions do not align with truth, discard such reasoning. Never allow the wrong mindset take root in you.
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
1 Corinthians 10:5 KJV
It’s not your fault that you were trained the way you were, but it is your responsibility to demolish every negative mindset that inhibits the working and/or character of Christ.
I’ve always said, in various posts, that the subconscious mind of every child is formed within their first nine years and that assumes 95% of their processing. So, imagine having the bulk of a product wrong! It means a whole lot, doesn’t it?
The Word of God is the surest resource for the training and re-schooling of the mind. No matter how wrongly you’ve been raised, you have the responsibility to correct that wrong mentality with the Word.
Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
Titus 1:15 KJV
See the good in all things. Deal with defiled mind. See purity in all things. Believe that everyone loves you, including those who hate you. If you can do that, you’ll be able to deal well and be happy in your life.
Do you know the sweet thing about life? If you can believe that those who hate you love you, you’ll live longer than them, get better results than them, and of course, with God, you’ll be more blessed than them.
If God has structured a system and you begin to fault the system, that means you are the problem. You cannot be faulting a system of God with your imperfect nature; it’s highly unwise.
So, if God puts a leader over you, for example, and all you make of them are errors, it’s not because something is wrong with them, but because something is wrong with your processing. Get it fixed by constantly feeding it with the Word.
So, never build a negative mindset and never build negativity on a negative mindset you’re trying to salvage by the Word. Be quick to think and act the right things.
Like Paul said;
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Philippians 4:8 KJV
You can never build the right life by focusing on the wrong things. So, learn to interpret things. Learn to love people, process rightly and accept things the way they are in truth. In so doing, you’ll have and enjoy a great life.
